The era when heating relied solely on central heating in the north and reliance on stoves in the south is gradually fading away. Even though many southern regions still lack centralized heating systems, there’s a convenient, flexible, healthy, and comfortable heating device called a wall-mounted boiler that’s perfectly suited for home heating. As a result, many people choose to install gas-fired wall-mounted boilers in areas without centralized heating. A wall-mounted boiler is a sophisticated piece of equipment that integrates water and electricity, making its safety critically important. Today, Brother Song will share with you some essential safety tips and energy-saving techniques for using wall-mounted boilers, ensuring that you can enjoy a warm and comfortable life during the coming cooler season. 1. You must use the type of gas specified on the product’s nameplate label (such as natural gas, manufactured gas, liquefied petroleum gas, biogas, etc.—these gases cannot be used interchangeably). 2. Wall-mounted boilers should be installed in kitchens or enclosed balconies, but never in bathrooms or bedrooms. 3. When ambient temperatures may drop below freezing, the boiler’s heating system must remain powered. In standby mode, as long as the gas supply is unobstructed, the main circulation pipes are clear, and the heating system maintains normal water pressure, the boiler’s antifreeze function and pump’s anti-interference protection will operate effectively. Once any of these conditions are no longer met—whether it’s the boiler itself, the piping, or the radiators—the system could freeze and suffer damage, potentially even leading to safety hazards. During winter, if there’s a prolonged power outage or if you’ll be away from home for an extended period, the environment is likely to freeze. In such cases, you should drain the water from your heating system to prevent ice damage. 4. When topping up the system pressure to between 1.0 and 1.5 bar, make sure to close the refill valve; otherwise, the heating system’s overpressure safety valve will keep leaking, possibly saturating indoor items with moisture. If the pressure becomes too high during refilling, excess water can be drained through the radiator’s drain valve or air vent. During operation, the pressure in a wall-mounted boiler will naturally rise due to the thermal expansion of water as it heats up. Most wall-mounted boilers come equipped with overpressure protection and pressure-relief devices. When the system pressure exceeds the normal range, the boiler will alert the user to reduce the pressure. 5. Improper installation of the wall-mounted boiler’s flue system can lead to backflow of exhaust gases and incomplete combustion. Incomplete combustion can cause oxygen depletion indoors, adversely affecting users’ health. Therefore, we recommend using the original piping provided by the manufacturer when installing a wall-mounted boiler, and the location of the flue must not be altered arbitrarily. If you need to move or modify the installation location, you should contact a professional technician for on-site assistance. 6. Most household wall-mounted boilers are installed in kitchens, yet other appliances like refrigerators, ovens, and induction cookers are often also placed in kitchens. These appliances emit strong radiation. When using appliances that emit significant radiation, try to keep a safe distance from the wall-mounted boiler to avoid interfering with its normal operation.
