Miura Boiler: When using boilers, is it mandatory to identify and address potential safety hazards?

If we’re using Miura boilers, we must immediately stop and inspect any areas that we identify as having defects. Otherwise, should a safety incident occur, the resulting adverse effects could be extremely serious. So, which safety risks should we eliminate?

   

1. Security risks of the operation and ignition system software

1) Internal leakage in the burner: If there is a leak inside the burner valve, the leak detection device equipped on the burner becomes ineffective—or, worse yet, the burner may not be equipped with any leak detection device at all—allowing flammable gases to enter the furnace. Once ignition occurs, this can trigger an explosion of the furnace. This is one of the key factors behind the Miura boiler explosion.

2) Insufficient ignition: This is caused by improper air-fuel ratio operation in the burner, which fails to ignite the natural gas. The resulting CO can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning in the boiler room clinic.

3) Dry-running: If the low-water-level alarm and the ultra-low-water-level lockout protector fail, the boiler can easily become dry. Without taking emergency measures, improper power supply could lead to a boiler explosion.

2. Poisoning or explosion due to natural gas pipeline leakage or flue gas duct leakage at the Miura boiler room.

   

3. The safety risks associated with the safety accessories of Miura boilers include valves, thermometers, pressure gauges, smart water meters, and others. Failure to perform regular maintenance as required or to promptly conduct wastewater discharge tests can render these safety accessories and instruments ineffective.

4. The Miura boiler is operated under its working pressure. Overpressure operation of a boiler at its working pressure will inevitably damage the boiler’s components and may even pose safety risks to operators of the Miura boiler.
